Very good job. I like that the characters were not made 3D and instead look like cardboard cut-outs...and yet still be fully mobile and stuff. This short is almost exactly like the original movie, save for being a computer virus instead of a demon that must be exorcised. Speaking of the exorcism, the (techie?)priests read from a user manual to cast out the virus. Just...just awesome dude. I love it!

Dude...just...wow...

Unlike some other people who find most of your stuff just plain weird or gross, I for one respect art in as many forms as it comes (Dubstep included...eventually...), and thoroughly enjoy the stuff you make cause its creative and just cool.

But this...Im not sure if you outdid yourself, or just weirded me out... This is so weird and WTF I cant even share it with my friends...

Despite what it normally implies, thats a good thing for you...you intended to weird me out...right?

Sexual-Lobster responds:

my intention is always to have fun telling a story, but this time around i assumed some people would be weirded out.

Ahhhh yes. Just imagine a whole generation of youngsters singing this song (hey don't throw forks at me for pointing out a serious issue with pop music for children today), without knowing its about the female sex organ, and Im not talking about that sexy piano Gooseman plays.

BTW I looked up Vertical Seafood Taco on the info sites. Urban dictionary says its a really, really gross and nasty, uncleaned vagina. that is why it may smell like fish, and be quite squishy to boot.

Been loving your stuff since early-ish builds of Mozzoloh (which i still havent beaten yet...the ghost cave and unarmed arena are HARD, but thats for a different game). Can't give this a 5/5 tho, not enough content yet--it will have its time, I'm sure of it :D

A couple issues I have with the demo and game so far:
- Supposedly (from the comments I seen) I can only massage the student and train the Vice Principal in this demo, but the progress thing only shows the massage. The other is ???

- I saw a comment that the artists are the same between this game and (I assume) Mozzoloh...yet the portraits for the maid and VP look quite different in art style than the rest of the portraits/scenes, as if done by someone else...? Idk, was just curious.

- I suggest you change the navigation for this game to that of Mozzoloh--a big map with clickable locations to get from one place to another. Navigation as you have in this demo would work for an adventure game, such as the likes of handheld Zelda titles, where exploration is part of the adventure. Maybe you'll add secrets to explore. Maybe you'll have locations off the beaten path, in the nooks and crannies of the school. Maybe, but I'd be curious to see how my suggestion would change the gameplay feel.

- I very much liked the ability to colorize and re-colorize the school uniforms, and even more so enjoyed seeing my color choices on Adelie's in-map model and portrait AND cutscenes, AND EVEN MORE SO ENJOYED seeing the colors on the university symbol! THANK YOU!! However I find it odd I can't choose seperate colors for shoes and socks--you know, black and white, respectively, as many IRL school uniforms are. Also I noticed three parts of the outfit can be colorized, yet the university symbol doesn't use the shoe/sock color. Perhaps the letters in the symbol could match the sock/shoe color? Say, have a dark-lavender wreathe (shirt/top), a charcoal-black ring (skirt), and dark-crimson runic lettering (shoes/socks)? How hard would that be to do in coding/artistry?

pokkaloh responds:

Thanks
- Maybe there's a bug, I've changed this part so it will be fixed anyway. But yeah, at night you can only do those two things.
- Yes, those two are drawn by the one who drew monsters in Mozzoloh
- There will be exploration of the island later :D
- The shoes aren't visible 99% of the game. Maybe later you'll be able to colorize the university symbol independently, then I'll see if I add a layer for the letter or something.

SERIOUSLY good imo! Reminds me of roguelikes akin to NetHack and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, but with a somewhat more refreshing feel gotten from these dusty shelves. Beatable in an hour you say? Well my lack of skill begs to differ :D

This is my first Rogue Fable game ive ever played, so take my critiques with a grain of salt if you wish. The amount of equipment and food per floor is rather minimal--one piece of food every other floor, my hunger lasts about that long or slightly longer, and equipment is...well Ive never gotten any rogue-oriented armors. Full plate or dragonscale armor? Yup got that. Wizard robes and whatnot? Yeah i got that once. But no leathers, I find that hard to believe. Furthermore, i thought id get heavy looting, not minimal equipment rewards. The runs i get a fire staff, I end up in a flammable-free place. I get a lightning weapon, im sent to a water-free zone. Where is my variety??

It's not the best game, but neither is it the worst. The way it works is like Stanley Parable and Stealing the Diamond, with lots of references...AWESOME references. I loved the Game Grumps one XD

doing it in RPG Maker seems kinda lazy and too easy tho. Well done game, but...comes off as lazy and easy-to-make. Just sayin'

chaos00177 responds:

im glad you liked the references! they were fun to make. i actually tried making games with unreal engine but when I tested out a project on newgrounds, it takes at least 40 seconds to load with barely anything in it just because it needs to convert the C code to javascript. i do think there are better engines than rpg maker, but when it comes to load time and web browser compatability, (unity has different bugs with different browsers and a large load time as well), rpg maker is a better engine for web browsers and it can do a lot. it is an easy engine but i really do believe it is one of the best engines for making a web browser game and thats why I stuck with it. i kind of rambled but.. I hope you liked the game!

Your song...it has touched my heart.

To all potato fathers, I salute you!

This is a very touching piece. I just LOVE violins; they seem to tap into a part of people that conjures up great and sad emotion, like an orphan without any hope or a war victim you pass on the street, the victim being a young child who lost their whole family to guns and hate.

Anyhow, this song makes me think of something fantastical as well, except of something...very different: a video game theme song that plays whenever your character, the clique swordsman hero with an unknown dark past, has an emotionally tense moment with a young woman who has been traveling with you since the start of the game, who turns out to be a princess or something.

Anyhow, as these conversations occur again and again over time, she tells you more about her past, her cultural things, and who you are, of course with other details given by other people and things in your journey that will make what she says lead to conclusions.

Sorry for this idea being so fleshed-out and detailed. My imagination is like that. In short, I see not a hero and a maiden or anything sad like that, but a sad truthful history between your clueless hero and this wonderful friend you are growing closer to as time progresses, but the history you learn makes this friendship grow much like a dainty flower in a rocky wasteland: it's impossible if a strong will isn't applied.

TheBenjerman responds:

Thanks for the detailed reply! I'm glad you got so much out of it. :)

...That's all I have to say...

Awesome art dude! If this was just starting out, I'd wish you the best in drawing them their stuff (I'm thinking posters, but it's anime, so more likely drawing animation than posters).

BTW, I see you tagged it under toonami. I dont remember seeing it on the Saturday night lineup recently. If you dont know people, Toonami is back: 12 to 6am.

MikeLuckas responds:

Actually it was on Toonami for a little while.

A solid mate of mine I've known forever LOVES hot badass girls in stuff: Ramona Flowers, Liona from KOF (hint hint, look for some of her Shadman. I see potential there for you.), et cetera. Not sure to refer him to this and other Ramona pics you done or not. Also nice tattoo on the back.

Moondog: if that sickens you...good. That means you can actually appreciate it. If you were trying to show disapproval of his work, you would not care about it in any such way. Literally. Like neither care for it nor hate it. Just not even get it. That's worse than anything.

On a side note: damn man, this is fucking good! Have you ever worked with zombies eating and gangbanging that girl from Resident Evil (any girl, really) and shes genuinely freaking the fuck out, shooting wildly trying to run and shit? Ive seen a fair share your stuff, not seen anything that!

One thing Chuck Norris can't be.
